TaʼrifHagia Theodosia Church (Gül Mosque) Ayakapı, İstanbul (14050358797).jpg
English: Hagia Theodosia Church, (Gül Mosque today), located in Ayakapı in İstanbul, is a religious building from the Byzantine period. It was built during the 10th or 11th centuries. After the conquest of İstanbul, the building served local shipyards as a warehouse for shiping equipment. It was converted into a mosque in 1499 and a minaret was added to the building during the period of Selim II. After being destroyed by fire in 1633, the building was renovated. A further, more extensive restoration was undertaken on the order of Mahmud II (1808-1839). After being used as the Adile Sultan Public Library for some years, the building is empty today.
