English: A Israel Air Force North Amercian P-51D Mustang at Ras Natsrani, Sinai, circa 1970. This was the plane of Lieutenant Yonatan Etkes from the "Flying Wing" squadron. He took off from Tel Nof airfield in P-51D (s/n 73) on 2 November 1956 to attack an Egyptian camp at Ras Natsrani. He was hit at ca 12:30h local time and made an emergency landing at the beach of Ras Natsrani. The Mustang flipped over, but wounded Lt. Etkes managed to get out of the plane. He was captured and later returned to Isarel. The plane was left untouched until the 1967 war, when Israli reservists turned it over. Its final fate is unknown.
