TaʼrifPortrait of Mughal prince Sultan Murad (cropped).jpg
English: A portrait of Murad (1570-1599), the second son Emperor Akbar and full brother of Salim (later Emperor Jahangir). Murad died from alcoholism on 12 May 1599 while leading Akbar's Deccan campaign. He is depicted kneeling on a felt namda carpet with his palms together and held out in front of him. A red and gold belt fastens two patkas on top of his green jama.
The upper half of the figure has been over-painted in the 18th century. He wears a pearl and ruby necklace and an orange turban, but rather than the usual kalgi feather emerging from it, there is a floral sprig in its place.
