Jules Goux 1913-yilgi Indy 500da

Indianapolis 500ning dastlabki ikki yilidagi arizalar deyarli faqat amerikalik poygachilardan boʻlgan. 1913-yilda olti haydovchi Yevropadan poygalarda ishtirok etish uchun ariza berishgan. Mukofot 20 000 dollar ekanligi ularni (2021 yilda 548 350 dollar ekvivalenti) jalb qilgan. Jami 27 ta mashina soatiga 75 milya saralash tezligiga javob beradi, Jack Tower eng yaxshi natija 88,230 milya[3]. Ishtirokchilar toʻrli tasodifiy qur’a yoʻli bilan aniqlandi.

Towerning mashinasi janubi-g‘arbiy burilishda 51-aylanada ag‘darilib, uning oyog‘i singan. Yordamchi mexanik Li Dunningning uchta qovurg‘asi singan[4]. Bob Burman poygani favorit sifatida boshladi. 55-davrada mashinasi yonib ketishidan oldin 41 aylanishda yetakchilik qildi. Burman mashinasini taʼmirlab, davom ettirishga muvaffaq boʻldi, ammo davom etayotgan muammolar yana bir necha toʻxtash haydovchini almashtirishga olib keldi. Musobaqani oʻn birinchi oʻrinda yakunladi (faqat eng yaxshi oʻnta ishtirokchi pul mukofotini oldi)[5].

Shampan vinosi

Shahar afsonalariga koʻra, poyga gʻolibi Jules Goux gʻalaba yoʻlida „olti shisha shampan“ isteʼmol qilgan. Biroq, bu daʼvo boʻrttirilgan deb ishoniladi. Buning oʻrniga, Jules Gouxning oltita pit-stop paytida oʻzi va chavandoz mexanik Emil Begin oʻrtasida faqat toʻrtta shisha (har biri 4⁄5 pint) boʻlingan, ularning har biri bir necha qultum ichishgan, ammo mast boʻlish uchun yetarli emas. Shampan vinosi ogʻiz chayqash vositasi sifatida ishlatilib, boshqa koʻkatlar qoʻshilgan boʻlgan[6].
